Jilian Tolzmann

With a passion for telling compelling stories through nuanced comedy, Jilian Tolzmann is a multidisciplinary artist currently acting, directing, writing and producing on both screen and stage. As a writer, Jilian enjoys crafting dark humoured feminist stories, which particularly shone through in her film “Dating Advice with Baba Yaga” about the witch from Slavic mythology.
Jilian has performed with various theatres such as The Cultch and Carousel Theatre. Expanding on her Baba Yaga passion, she apprentice directed Touchstone Theatre's production of YAGA at Gateway Theatre. In addition to acting, Jilian has been a musician for 15 years. She also has a plethora of credits in additional departments, anywhere from costumes to art.
Loving to jump into new creative challenges and experiences, a directorial highlight was her Shakespearean remix short film “Tides of March” created in 48 hours for the RunNGun Film Competition, which received a best youth team nomination.
Pursuing acting, while continuing to explore her production interests, Jilian is a student at Studio 58 (Langara College).
With her interdisciplinary approach to creating, Jilian started her social media brand Vancouver-Girl as a hobby over the pandemic which led her to creating content for other brands. Now as JiL of All Trades Media, she offers a variety of content creation services including graphic design, photography and marketing strategy. Jilian has provided marketing services to a wide range of companies. This includes the website redesign for Spontaneous Theatre, a theatre company which has had productions at The Shaw and Stratford Festivals.
